BUSINESSMEN’S DIALOGUES WITH SEN. MAR ROXAS

The Chamber of Commerce of the Philippines conducted a dialogue with Sen. Mar Roxas last April 5, 2006. He is the Chairman of the Senate Committee on Trade and Industry.  Issues on operating problems of Filipino businessmen, high cost of energy, taxes, smuggling, labor laws and the effects of the borderless economy were discussed.  Sen. Roxas advised the private sector to work closely with government in order to accelerate the amelioration of the Philippine economy.

A Successful Forum on Corporate Governance with Hon. Fe Barin – Chairperson of the Securities and Exchange Commission

The Chamber of Commerce of the Philippines (CCP)  recently concluded a successful dialogue with the Chairperson of the Securities and Exchange Commission, Hon. Fe Barin.  They discussed, among others, important issues on protecting minority stockholders, empowerment of independent directors and also issues affecting the pre-need industries.

Dialogue with Hon. Gallant D. Soriano – Deputy Commissioner of the Bureau of Customs 

The Chamber of Commerce of the Philippines Monthly Business Forum was held at the Manila Golf Club last September 27, 2005 at 8:30 a.m. with the Hon. Gallant D. Soriano – Deputy Commissioner of the Bureau of Customs as guest speaker.  He discussed the present reform initiatives being undertaken at the Bureau spearheaded by the newly designated Officer-in-Charge of the BOC, the Hon. Alexander M. Arevalo.

The Chamber of Commerce of the Philippines Monthly Business Forum was held at the Multi-Purpose Hall of the CCPF Bldg. Magallanes Drive, Intramuros, Manila on November 22, 2005 at 9:00 a.m. with Guest of Honor and Speaker, Hon. Alipio F. Fernandez, Jr. – Commissioner of the Bureau of Immigration who discussed his reform initiatives currently being undertaken at the Bureau.
